New Nexus Phone Mockup Created by Dorian Lust

It’s no Galaxy Nexus 2, but this new Nexus Phone mockup created by Dorian Lust is certainly interesting. He imagines a curved device that’s pretty wide and below you can see the handset going through some design changes, as the designer accepts feedback. We don’t have any specs for this model, but we do have some features mentioned by Dorian.

This Nexus concept uses a kickstand, discretely integrated at the back, RGB notification light pipes and also has a fingerprint reader. Its body is shock resistant and the screen adopts a concave format for reflection minimizing. The new Nexus is able to be used as a universal remote, laser pointer and it has back and front radar detection and the “regular high end internal specs”. I guess that means quad core CPU, maybe a Snapdragon S4 quad core, 720p or even 1080p screen, 1 or 2 GB of RAM and maybe a 12 megapixel camera.

NFC and cornea scan are here and maybe Android Key Lime Pie as well. What would be cool is if the edges of the handset were a bit flexible, since it’s so curved and all. So, do you like this design? And why?

HTC H2O Made by Bob Freking, “World’s Best Waterproof Phone”

If you’ve been monitoring releases of smartphones, you must’ve noticed a trend from Fujitsu and Sony, for example, who release most of their new handsets with waterproof abilities. HTC doesn’t have one such device, so it’s up to designers like Bob Freking to come up with them. Thus, I give you the HTC H2O, dubbed the “world’s best waterproof phone”.

HTC H2O Made by Bob Freking, Worlds Best Waterproof Phone

The idea came up courtesy of Antonio Busillo, who sent Bob Freking a sketch of the render and he made it into a concept phone. The specs indicated by the same Antonio include a quad core Tegra 3 1.5 GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture. At the front there’s a 3 megapixel camera and apparently both do capture without problems, even in water. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is the OS of choice here, with HTC Sense 4.0 and a water themed UI.

Add to that a Super AMOLED HD screen with a 1600 x 900 pixel resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Sadly we have no idea what diagonal this model has, but it’s probably somewhere in the range of 4.5 inches to 4.8 inches. The HTC H2O device comes in Polar White, Black and Water Blue. Ready to go skinny dipping with a HTC?

Jolla Mobile Concept Created by Shihuzaan

As you probably know if you follow tech news, people have been leaving Nokia for a while now. The team formerly behind MeeGo and some other experts left Nokia and created Jolla, a startup that will create the Jolla OS, seen by many as the follow-up to Meego. Now Shihuzaan sent us his first concept of a Jolla mobile phone.

Jolla Mobile Concept Created by Shihuzaan

Jolla announced that it will reveal its first phone this year and many expect somehow for them to deliver some sort of Nokia N10. Well, moving on to our mockup, we find here a full touch device with the letter “J” etched on the front and used a notification LED. The device adopts a 3.9 inch LD display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution and supports USB OTG for charge, mass storage and sync. Other features include a microSD card slot, 8GB of storage, microSIM card slot and two loud speakers at the bottom.

At the back there’s an 8 megapixel camera with Full HD video capture and inside we have a dual core CPU with powerful GPU. Finally, we’ve got a 2 MP camera upfront and camera, volume and lock buttons on the right side. The handset’s design reminds me a bit of the Nokia C7 and it has a bit of a teardrop thing going on with its profile, which is cool.

ASUS Smartphone Concept is Both Fat and Phat

Dreaming of a quad core ASUS phone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board? That’s exactly what you get today, courtesy of Deviantart member rodrigoDSCT, who admires ASUS and decided to create this concept. We’re talking about a smartphone with rounded edges, that make it look a bit “fat”, so to say. It measures 8mm in thickness and weighs 120 grams.

ASUS Smartphone Concept is Both Fat and Phat

This ASUS smartphone is supposed to come in black or white and feature a 4.5 inch 720p display with Super AMOLED tech and Gorilla Glass II. Other features include 1.5GB of RAM, 16/32/64GB of storage and a quad core 1.5 GHz Tegra CPU. The handset runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and has updates guaranteed for two years, according to the designer. At the back there’s an 8 megapixel camera, the same one from the Sony Xperia Arc and iPhone 4S, while at the front we find a 1.3 megapixel cam.

Other feats include two microphones, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a loud speaker at the back. The rest of the specs are considered similar to the Sony Xperia S and HTC One X. There’s a lot of finesse put into the design of the camera area on this device and its facade looks very much like a HTC to me. What do you think about this ASUS phone concept?

[Exclusive]Nokia Lumia X Windows Phone 8 Device Launching in September, Supposedly It’s Real

I always doubt it when a person sends me a picture of a REAL phone, but this time it’s a very unique design. Our source, Johnny sent us a picture of what he calls the Nokia Lumia X. Supposedly, this is a real Windows Phone 8 device, that will debut in September and he got the image from a friend that worked at a Nokia Design Studio.

[Exclusive]Nokia Lumia X Windows Phone 8 Device Launching in September, Supposedly Its Real

The same source says that there are new Lumias coming, much more interesting than the Samsung, HTC and Huawei phones. Nokia Lumia X features a HD screen resolution, a Clear Black AMOLED display, Windows Phone 8 as OS and a Snapdragon S4 dual core CPU. The camera at the bottom is an 8 megapixel unit with Carl Zeiss technology. As you can see the camera mechanism rotates, just like on older Nokia models like the N93 or 5700 XpressMusic. The rotating area has dedicated media keys and apparently there are also dedicated keys for playing games.

The source of the picture also says that there’s a new N-Gage phone in the making as well and this data is designed to stay in the lab, so what you see here is top secret, provided it’s real. So, do you think it’s real or not? I have a feeling there’s something fishy here, since I can’t imagine such a small phone with a HD display…

iPad Mini Mockup Designed by Nickolay Lamm

We’ve just found a brand new iPad Mini mockup, a concept design made by Nickolay Lamm, who gathered all the leaked info about the 7.85 inch Apple table. The device is rumored to debut sometime in the following months with a lower price point and diagonal than the other iPads.

iPad Mini Mockup Designed by Nickolay Lamm

It comes as a response to the Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire tablets, that sell for $200 or so. The device measures 7.85 inches in diagonal and is supposed to support a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. The iPad Mini mockup here has a 7.2mm waistline and comes with speakers that resemble the ones on iPhone 5 leaked units. Also the connector resembles the 19 pin one from the latest iPhone component leaks. Other than that the iPad Mini is pretty sleek and good looking, to be honest.

This 7.85 inch iPad could come with a 3 or 5 megapixel main camera, Apple A5X CPU, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, LTE, 8000 mAh battery (or around that value), but these are all speculations. I sincerely doubt that there will be an iPad Mini anytime soon. What do you think?

Nokia Lumia 910 Teaser by Jonas Daehnert

Jonas Daehnert, the designer who created the beautiful Surface Phone is now back with a Nokia Lumia 910 teaser. This phone has remarkable finesse, a metallic case and an interesting choice of colours, that makes me think about autumn.

Nokia Lumia 910 Teaser by Jonas Daehnert

Also, the device is less rounded than previous Lumias and much thinner. Nokia Lumia 910 features a 4.3 inch screen without the black screen frame and it’s very, very thin at 6.8mm in waistline. The handset is very compact and its body is made of aluminum. Jonas didn’t detail other specs, since frankly they don’t matter. Windows Phone 8 Apollo runs on multicore CPUs and that’s all you need to know. Pureview is seen by the designer as a good technology, but one that makes the phone ugly.

As I said, the finesse of the phone is great and I like the bigger camera button, as opposed to the smaller camera key that we also saw on the Nokia Pureview 808 handset. I suppose the smartphone has a soft touch area at the bottom, with those Windows Phone keys, that are most likely touch only. So, do you

Google Nexus 2013 Concept (Final Version) With Tegra 4 CPU, Sold by Google Wireless Carrier

We offered you a concept of the Galaxy Nexus 2 and a teaser for an upcoming Google Nexus phone. Now Bob Freking delivered the Google Nexus 2013, a really well designed piece of work and a very original idea behind it. This phone is all Google, so much that even its wireless network is offered by Google. The search engine giant is supposed to handle the software, hardware and network in this case. We have a gallery below and you can click on the pictures to see their larger versions.

Google Nexus 2013 Concept (Final Version) With Tegra 4 CPU, Sold by Google Wireless Carrier

Bob Freking’s concept involves the announcement of Google Wireless, the company’s own carrier with cheap 4G plans. Also, know that the phones with support for this newfound carrier will lack bloatware and will be thinner, lacking a SIM card, that will actually be built in. Google Nexus 2013 features a 4.8 inch AMOLED display with a 1600 x 900 pixel resolution, a 1.6 GHz Nvidia Tegra 4 quad core processor and a 13.1 megapixel HD camera. The device is suppoed to be sold by Google for $299 unlocked and for $49 locked on Google Wireless.

This “Nexus 2″ runs Android Key Lime Pie, with an updated version of Google Now and G Network, that offers free messaging and calls to other Android 4.2 phones. By the way Key Lime Pie is actually Android 4.2. The phone also integrates the Google Fiber service and as far as design goes, Nexus 2013 has some cool lines at the back, that light up depending on the notification you get. This lighting system is actually the famous logo of the Nexus family. Everything is covered with polycarbonate and Gorilla Glass and other specs include a 2 megapixel front camera and 3000 mAh battery. Beautiful and brilliant work Bob!
